School Registration is Now Open

Hello Coe Families, we need your help to get the word out that registration for the 2022/23 school year is now open! Please let your friends / family / neighbors know that they can enroll their kindergarten-ready and prospective students with Coe Elementary at seattleschools.org/enroll/enroll-my-student.

The district will determine Coe Elementary’s budget for the next school year in a few weeks (early March). By enrolling now and securing a spot at Coe, families are helping our school prepare better for new students next year. Please help encourage early registration by sharing the above link.

Coe will also host virtual tours on Tuesday, January 25 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 3 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. (meeting links available here: coees.seattleschools.org/news/coe-virtual-tour-2022). There will be brand new videos shared of our school and new building addition, plus sneak peeks into classroom life and much more coming soon! But first, please help us get those enrollments in. Thank you!

Coe PTA Fundraising Survey

If you have not already had the opportunity to do so, please take a couple of minutes to complete our short fundraising survey and share your thoughts. Please check the Coe Bulletin for the link.

The survey will remain open until Friday, December 17. We value our school community’s input and encourage everyone to participate. Thank you!

Thanksgiving & Native American Heritage Day: Family Learning Conversations

Queen Anne is on the traditional land of the Seattle’s First People, the Duwamish People, past and present.

Thanksgiving (Nov 25) and Native American Heritage Day (Nov 26) next week present a meaningful opportunity to learn about connections between food and culture for our state’s Native Nations.

In 2015, the Legislature passed Senate Bill 5433 requiring the Since Time Immemorial: Tribal Sovereignty in Washington State (STI) or other tribally-developed curriculum be taught in all schools.  The use of the Since Time Immemorial curriculum has been endorsed by all 29 federally recognized tribes.

The district webpage has information on how to explore additional readings, discussion guides, activities, and other resources like beautiful Seasonal Rounds that can be printed as placemats for your family’s holiday meal.

Specific STI readings for each grade cluster is below, along with supporting learning resources:

Food Drive is a Success!

Thanks to the generous donations from Coe families, we were able to provide 29 boxes (approximately 435 pounds!) of food to the Ballard Food Bank.  A special thank you to all those who donated food, time, extra garage space, and cars to help get all the food to the bank. Way to go, Coe Cougars!
